Alternatives to Semji: nine SEO content tools compared in 2026
By Adrien Asselineau · · 10 min read
Semji does not publish its prices: everything goes through a quote, with no self-service payment. Eight of the nine alternatives show a public price grid, from $23 per month (NeuronWriter) to €299 (Suiko) at entry level; only MarketMuse remains on request, like Semji. Surfer SEO is the most complete for optimisation and publishing; Frase is the closest to Semji in its “agentic platform” spirit. Suiko is the only tool on the list that does not generate articles: it runs texts written by humans, with verified facts.
Semji is one of the best-known SEO content tools in France. Published in Lyon since 2012, it now presents itself as “the agentic AI platform that optimises your content for AI search and Google, prioritised by revenue impact”. It covers the brief, an editor with a Content Score out of 100, planning, updating existing content, publishing to WordPress, Drupal, Magento, Contentful or Strapi, tracking Google AI Overviews and assistants such as ChatGPT, and a knowledge base for its agents. Its prices are not public: the dedicated page states that Semji works on a quote basis, with no grid and no self-service payment.
That last point, or the size of the team, is often what makes people look elsewhere. This article compares nine alternatives on verifiable criteria: public price, French support, brief, score, review, updating existing content, publishing to the CMS, visibility in AI answers. All the facts come from the official sites, consulted on 16 October 2026, and the sources are listed at the end of the article. One thing before we start: I publish Suiko, which is on this list. I applied the same criteria to Suiko as to the others.
What to compare
The tools in this category do not all do the same job. Some are optimisation tools: you paste a text, they grade it against the pages ranking for the query and suggest terms. Others run the whole chain, from brief to publishing, with roles, statuses and result tracking. Since late 2025, most add a “GEO” layer, meaning the measurement of your brand's presence in the answers of ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google AI Overviews.
To replace Semji, seven questions are enough to rule out half the candidates.
- Is the price public, and for how many users?
- Is French supported for the analysis, not only for the interface?
- Is there a brief before writing, and a score during?
- Are review and approval inside the tool?
- Can the tool rework content already online, and how?
- Does it publish to your CMS, or do you copy and paste?
- Does it check facts, and against what? A dated, sourced knowledge base, or nothing?
The comparison table
Entry prices excluding VAT, as shown on the pricing pages on 16 October 2026. Surfer's prices were shown in euros and billed yearly; those of Clearscope, Frase and NeuronWriter in dollars. “On request” means no price is shown. Entry prices do not cover the same scope from one tool to the next (number of users, documents or analyses included): the sheet in each section spells it out.

No tool meets all three conditions.
The minimum plan for your team
The entry price does not tell you what you will pay. Enter the number of people who will use the tool and the number of contents you produce or update each month: the table gives, for each tool, the cheapest public plan that covers that need, extra seats and units included when the vendor shows their price. We count one content for one unit of each vendor: a document at Surfer, an optimisation at YourText.Guru, a brief at SEOQuantum, a draft at Clearscope, an article at Frase, an analysis at NeuronWriter, a report at Dashword. Prices stay in the vendor's currency, excluding VAT, read on the pricing pages on 17 October 2026.
| Tool | Minimum plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing, per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Semji | On request, no public price | ||
| Surfer SEO | Standard | €119 | €99 |
| YourText.Guru | Essential | €229 | €209 |
| SEOQuantum | Agency | €399 | €332.50 |
| Clearscope | Essentials | $129 | not shown |
| Frase | Professional | $129 | $103 |
| NeuronWriter | Gold | $69 | $57 |
| MarketMuse | On request, no public price | ||
| Dashword | Startup | $99 | not shown |
| Suiko | Subscription | €299 | €299 |
What the pricing pages do not say
- Surfer SEO monthly-billing quotas. On annual billing, Surfer grants 120 or 360 documents for the year, reset once a year. Prices shown in euros from France; no extra seat or document in the catalogue.
- YourText.Guru members only. Guests (two on Essential, four on Enterprise) only access a given guide. The Enterprise “unlimited” is capped at three guides per minute. Prices excluding VAT.
- SEOQuantum the page does not state the period of the quotas (25 and 999 briefs, as many optimisation tools): we read them as monthly. The Annual tab shows €1,490 and €3,990 without a unit of time: we bring them back to the month. Prices excluding VAT.
- Clearscope unlimited users, so the number of users changes nothing. Both plans include 20 drafts per month; additional drafts exist as an add-on, at a tiered price the page does not spell out. Annual price not shown.
- Frase per-article overage ($5 on Professional, $4 on Scale) is an option to switch on; the Starter plan accepts neither extra seats nor overage. Extra seat $29 per month.
- NeuronWriter Bronze and Silver share content read-only: we count one user. Gold and above, unlimited members. The page does not state the period of the analyses: we read them as monthly.
- Dashword annual price not shown (20% discount announced, on request). Business is announced “from $349”.
- Suiko unlimited users, 300 Google results analyses per month. A team producing ten contents uses about thirty: we therefore count 100 contents per month. Price excluding VAT, the same on annual billing.
Surfer SEO
- Vendor
- Surfer, Wrocław (Positive group)
- Entry price
- €49 per month billed yearly, €59 monthly
- French
- Yes, analysis, generation and interface
- CMS publishing
- WordPress; Contentful from the Pro plan
- AI visibility
- AI Tracker: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode
Surfer was born in Wrocław in 2017 and has belonged since October 2025 to the French group Positive, formerly the Sarbacane group. It describes itself as “Your AI Search Visibility OS”; the acquisition press release credits it with about 12,000 customers, and its site shows more than 150,000 users. Its core remains the Content Editor and its real-time Content Score, completed by generated outlines, a topical map, an audit of existing content with “two-click” refresh, and an AI Tracker that follows ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. The interface has been available in French since 5 October 2026; text generation in French already existed.
The prices shown on 16 October, billed yearly: €49 per month for Discovery (120 documents), €99 for Standard (360 documents, WordPress, Google Docs, collaboration), €182 for Pro (Contentful, MCP), €299 for Peace of Mind (unlimited documents, API). On monthly billing, the page shows €59 (Discovery), €119 (Standard), €219 (Pro) and €359 (Peace of Mind). The free trial lasts 7 days on the Pro plan, with billing details requested at sign-up and an automatic switch to the chosen plan at the end of the 7 days, according to Surfer's help centre. We did not find an approval workflow: collaboration goes through document sharing and comments, with 1 to 10 seats depending on the plan.
In short: the most complete alternative for optimisation, WordPress publishing included, with no approval workflow found.
YourText.Guru
- Vendor
- Babbar, Évreux
- Entry price
- €99 per month
- French
- Yes, nine languages
- CMS publishing
- None, copy and paste or API
- AI visibility
- LLM SEO module: text graded out of 20, no engine tracked
YourText.Guru is published by Babbar, in Évreux, a company founded in 2019 by Sylvain Peyronnet and Guillaume Pitel according to the regional press; the tool itself has existed since 2016, and the site highlights “4 PhDs in AI and algorithmics”. The tool produces optimisation guides per query, with two scores: SOSEO for the level of optimisation, DSEO for the level of risk. It offers a team mode with approval, nine languages including French, and since September 2025 an LLM SEO module that grades a text out of 20 against E-E-A-T criteria, without tracking AI engines.
Prices are public and exclude VAT: Lite €99 per month, Essential €229, Enterprise €399, with an 8.5 to 9% discount yearly, plus token packs bought separately. The pricing page also lists API offers from €400 to €850 per month. There is no native CMS integration: the FAQ states that you copy and paste the content into WordPress, Shopify or Webflow. Updating existing content is not described as a separate feature, and Search Console is not mentioned.
In short: the strongest French alternative for pure semantic optimisation, for a team that keeps its own publishing workflow.
SEOQuantum
- Vendor
- SEOQuantum SAS, Valence
- Entry price
- €149 per month
- French
- Yes
- CMS publishing
- Not mentioned
- AI visibility
- Not mentioned
SEOQuantum, in Valence, grew out of an alpha-version tool in late 2015, led by Anthony Techer. Its promise: “Reach Google's TOP 5, even without being an SEO expert”, with “A to Z” automation. The tool chains keyword clusters, semantic analysis, briefs, real-time optimisation, AI writing, editorial planning, Search Console integration and an audit of existing content with automatic fixes.
Two public plans excluding VAT: Business at €149 per month (25 briefs, 25 optimisations, 10,000 generated words, 2 users) and Agency at €399 (999 briefs, 100,000 words, 10 users, API), with a 14-day trial without a card. We found neither a CMS connector nor AI Overviews tracking on the official pages.
In short: for teams that want to produce fast, with AI in the front line, at a public price and without a CMS connector.
Clearscope
- Vendor
- Mushi Labs, Austin
- Entry price
- $129 per month
- French
- Yes, five languages
- CMS publishing
- WordPress plugin, Google Docs, Word
- AI visibility
- Query Tracking: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude
Clearscope, in Austin, is the reference tool of American teams for topical coverage. Its 2.0 version of October 2025 repositioned it as a “Discoverability Platform”: “Get Discovered on Google, ChatGPT, and What's Next”. It offers a letter-based Content Grade, outlines generated by the Outline Builder and exportable as a brief, a content inventory with “Content Decay” and “Striking Distance” views, tracking of brand mentions in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, and Google Docs, WordPress and Word integrations. French is one of its five languages.
Prices: Essentials at $129 per month (50 tracked queries, 50 pages, 20 drafts), Business at $399 (300 queries, 300 pages, account manager), Enterprise custom, with unlimited users and projects on all plans and a 14-day trial. We did not find a brief assigned to a writer or an approval workflow.
In short: worth a look if your content is in English and French and you work in Google Docs.
Frase
- Vendor
- Frase, Inc. (Copysmith group)
- Entry price
- $49 per month, $39 yearly
- French
- Yes, four variants
- CMS publishing
- WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix
- AI visibility
- AI Visibility: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini depending on the plan
Frase, a Massachusetts company according to its terms of service, acquired by Copysmith in 2022, was entirely rebuilt in February 2026 around an AI agent: “Rank on Google. Get cited by AI.” The agent researches the topic, writes in the brand's voice, grades the text for Google and for AI engines, then publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, after your approval in a review queue. Content Guard watches for traffic drops on your pages and prepares a fix. French is supported in four variants.
Prices in dollars: Starter $49 per month (1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles), Professional $129 (3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles), Scale $299 (5 seats, 10 domains, 100 articles), 20% less yearly, 7-day trial without a card. The articles are written by the AI; your people review them.
In short: the closest to Semji in the “agentic platform” spirit, at a public price, with articles written by AI.
NeuronWriter
- Vendor
- Conti, Zamość (Contadu)
- Entry price
- $23 per month, $19 yearly
- French
- Yes, “very good” quality according to the vendor
- CMS publishing
- WordPress; Shopify and Google Docs via extension
- AI visibility
- AI Visibility: AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity
NeuronWriter, published in Zamość, Poland, by Conti within the Contadu suite, claims 300,000 to 350,000 users depending on where you look on its home page. It covers NLP optimisation, article generation (GPT-5, Claude Sonnet 4.5, Gemini), a content plan, team task management, export to WordPress and an AI Visibility module that tracks AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT and Perplexity. It announces 170 languages, specifying that the quality of recommendations varies by language; its official language table ranks French as “very good” quality, for recommendations as for AI writing.
It is the cheapest of the comparison: from $23 per month (Bronze, 25 analyses) to $117 (Diamond, 150 analyses), with the Gold plan at $69 opening the Search Console, WordPress and Shopify integrations.
In short: an option for a freelancer or a small team, with no brief or review workflow that we found.
MarketMuse and Dashword, with reservations
MarketMuse, a Boston pioneer founded in 2013, has belonged to Siteimprove since October 2024. Its inventory-based planning and its nine types of briefs, all reserved for the Strategy plan, remain well regarded, but its pricing page shows no price, publishing is done by copy and paste, and French is not officially supported. Dashword, an Estonian company, now presents itself around AI agents and an MCP server, from $99 per month; its reports do not cover France and no language is documented.
In short: for a French-speaking team, neither replaces Semji.
Suiko
- Vendor
- Adrien Asselineau, Lisbon
- Entry price
- €299 per month
- French
- Yes, six languages
- CMS publishing
- Strapi; another CMS connected at onboarding
- AI visibility
- Google AI Overviews, monthly survey
Suiko is the software I publish. It runs the whole chain for texts written by humans: a brief generated from Google results and from the facts in your knowledge base, an editor with a score out of 100 in five families, including “the facts are accurate”, a tracking board with review and approval, publishing to Strapi, with another CMS connected at onboarding, and tracking of clicks, impressions, positions and presence in Google AI Overviews for each page produced or updated. Updates of existing content are made by a machine that corrects outdated facts and leaves the rest intact, then reviewed by you.

The price is public: €299 excluding VAT per month, one site, unlimited users, no commitment; onboarding €3,000 once, waived with an annual commitment; updates through prepaid packs of 10 to 300 pages, from €249 to €2,490. What Suiko does not do: generate articles. It is not self-service either: onboarding is done with me.
In short: for teams that value human writing and whose content carries figures, rules or dates that go out of date.
How to choose
If you are leaving Semji for its lack of a public price, Surfer, YourText.Guru, SEOQuantum, Clearscope, Frase, NeuronWriter and Dashword all show a grid. If your team has ten people or more, look at the price per seat: Frase charges $29 for an extra seat on its Professional and Scale plans, Surfer counts 1, 3, 5 or 10 seats depending on the plan, Clearscope and Suiko do not limit users.
If most of your traffic comes from old pages that are ageing, the criterion is updating existing content: Surfer and Frase automate the refresh, Clearscope and MarketMuse detect it, Suiko has it done by a machine and then by you. If your content is regulatory or figure-heavy, ask each vendor what the facts are checked against, and by whom.
Finally, test on your own queries in French. Demos are often given in English, and the quality of semantic recommendations changes from one language to another. To get an idea of the brief Suiko produces, the SEO brief generator is free to use.
